The International Congress of Entomology, Durban, South Africa

Proposals are invited for papers to be presented at the ICE 2008 Congress. Submitted papers should be topical, current and preferably address one of the conference Sections outlined above.

Closing date for all oral and poster submissions: 28 February 2008

All Abstracts MUST be submitted online.

ORAL PAPERS

To submit a proposal to give a paper:

1. Prepare an abstract of your presentation of not more than 250 words excluding the title, authors and addresses. The abstract should provide a summary of the content of your proposed paper - please refer to the example provided below or on the Congress website at www.ice2008.org.za
2. Abstracts must be presented in the following format:

* as an MS Word file (Word 97 or later) as per the template that will be emailed to you when you register on the online abstract submission system. Use Arial font throughout.
* First line: 11 point font, bold. Title of your presentation
* Body text: 10 point font. Headings bold. Each heading at start of new line.

3. If your presentation has been invited into a specific symposium, please state it is an “invited submission” and give the name and number of that symposium.
4. Submit your abstract/s online.
5. Presenters of oral papers must use PowerPoint (97or later) presentation. No other form or projection will be available.

Requests for oral presentations will only be accepted in the above format and by the due date of 28 February 2008.

Authors of abstracts accepted for oral presentation will be notified as soon as possible after this date. It is anticipated that the number of submissions for oral presentation will exceed the number of presentation slots available. Where submissions cannot be accommodated as oral presentations, the Section Convenors may elect to allocate them as posters. Authors will be provided with sufficient notice where this occurs.

Presentation of oral papers will use PowerPoint. Authors will be contacted on how to submit their presentation.

POSTERS

To submit a proposal to present a poster

1. Prepare an abstract of your poster of not more than 250 words, excluding the title, authors and addresses. The abstract should provide a summary of the content of your proposed poster - please refer to the example poster provided on the Congress website at www.ice2008.org.za
2. Abstracts must be presented in the following format:

* As a MS Word file (Word 97 or later) as per the template that will be emailed to you when you register on the online abstract submission system. Use Arial font throughout.
* First line: 11 Point font, bold. Title of your presentation.
* Body text: 10 point font. Headings in bold. Each heading at start of new line.

3. Submit your abstract/s online at www.ice2008.org.za

All poster proposals and abstracts must be received by 28 February 2008. Authors of abstracts accepted for poster presentation will be notified as soon as possible after this date.

For presentation at Congress, your poster must comply with the following specifications:

1. Poster should preferably be laminated.
2. Maximum poster size is 1 metre across (from left to right) by 1.5 metres depth (top to bottom).
3. Accepted poster presentations will be allocated a POSTER NUMBER - posters must be erected at the site with the corresponding number during the allocated poster session.
4. Posters must be erected using VELCRO DOTS only. Please apply velcro “rough” dots to the reverse side of posters.
5. After the allocated poster session, authors must remove their posters by the nominated removal time. Failure to do so will result in their removal by the Congress organisers who will not be responsible for posters not removed by the due time.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES

Abstracts MUST be submitted online.
Hand-written, fax and email abstracts will not be accepted.
