General aim of PHYEM’08 is to review the advances in condensed matter physics as a basis of electronic ma-terials science and electronics.

Wide range of problems of simulation and experiment in the physics of electronic materials including semi-conductors, dielectrics, metals, superconductors, magnetics, ferroelectrics, etc. will be covered.

Physics of multinaries and lower-dimensional systems including nanomaterials and nanostructures, ordering-disordering, clusters and glasses, magnetic phase transitions and electronic ones, quantum effects and other unique ones will be discussed in detail.

The general topics for invited and contributed (oral and poster) papers are:
1.General problems of modern physics of electronic materials.
2.Physical bases of growth of crystalline and amorphous materials, bulk and lower-dimensional substances and structures.
3.Physics of quasicrystals, clusters, fractals, etc.
4.Structure, defects and related phenomena (defect induced localized states, valence fluctuation, order-disorder processes, etc.).
5.Quantum and other unique effects (giant magnetoresistance, HTSC, metal-insulator transitions, etc.).
6.New materials and technologies including nanomaterials and nanotechnologies; new possibilities of electronic materials application.
7.Physical bases of electronic materials characterization.
8.The course of condensed matter physics in higher education.
