Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital, built on seven hills, is one of the world’s most beautiful cities: its historic Old Town overlooked by the famous Castle; the elegant Georgian architecture of the New Town; an ancient volcano (Arthur’s Seat) near the city centre; its parks and gardens; and its sandy beaches by the Firth of Forth. There are museums, theatres, cinemas and several world-famous art galleries. There are also many cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.

Stirling

Situated in central Scotland, this town is close to Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn, sites of key battles in the Scottish wars of independence. Stirling also has a splendid castle and the dominating Wallace Monument is nearby. The University campus is just outside the town, set in beautiful grounds around Airthrey Loch and surrounded by magnificent scenery.

Getting there

Edinburgh is easily accessible by road, rail and air. Edinburgh International Airport is at Turnhouse, 12 kilometres WNW of the city centre.

Language
The language of the conference is English.

Climate

The Scottish weather is unpredictable; temperatures are typically 16-20 º C and showers are not uncommon.
