1st International Workshop on
Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis

16th and 17th May 2008

Beurs World Trade Center Rotterdam,

It is with great pleasure that the organizing committee invites you to attend the very first international workshop on Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis (HinMax 2008). This workshop is to take place on the 16th and 17th of May 2008, in the city of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The workshop will provide an excellent opportunity for scientists to exchange ideas, establish collaborations, and present the results of their research with respect to these significant bacterial pathogens. The conference will consist of an initial plenary session (including invited speakers) on the 16th, followed by two parallel sessions on the 17th, with the main topics to be covered including; clinical infection and antibiotic resistance, vaccines and immune response, virulence and biofilms, physiology and metabolism, and genomics and proteomics. Both oral and poster presentations will be on offer.
The city of Rotterdam includes the largest port in the world and is the second largest city in The Netherlands, with more than 1 million inhabitants from 162 different countries. This social diversity has endowed Rotterdam with an extensive cultural diversity, notwithstanding its award winning contemporary architecture, museums and regular citywide events. The city of Rotterdam also has its own airport with connections to many other European countries, and may easily be reached within 45 minutes by train from Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam (a major world hub-airport). The venue for HinMax2008 will be the Beurs World Trade Center Rotterdam, a vibrant business center set directly in the middle of Rotterdam, with close proximity to shopping centers and museums. An attractive social program has also been arranged for this workshop.
We look forward to meeting you on the 16th and 17th of May 2008 in Rotterdam for what promises to be the first of many exciting meetings relating to Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis.
