The 1st International Conference on Myths and Symbols (Alamat -1st ICOMS) will be hosted by the Department of Arts and Communication (College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines), 24-27 November 2008 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. This is in celebration of the centennial of the University of the Philippines in 2008.

Scholars, independent researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, writers, artists, and folk arts researchers are invited to share their own studies, papers and researchers conducted in line with the topics covered by the conference theme, in the form of an abstract of not over 800 words. Registration for the conference will start in July 2007.

Twenty-four abstracts will be chosen. Those whose papers are acceptable for conference presentation but do not make it to the group of 24 paper-presenters will be accepted as poster exhibitors.

Completed papers must be submitted by the end of January 2008 to undergo second screening for a pre-printed volume of papers. They must be submitted in Microsoft Word.
