“Ovation 09” Toastmasters International Annual Conference

Toastmasters International is a worldwide organization with its presence in 91 countries through 10,500 clubs and over 225,000 members. Toastmasters are committed to the development of communication and leadership skills at all levels in “people development”. Oral communication, public speaking, presentation skills and leadership are the focal areas of learning in this organization.

Toastmasters Clubs in Sri Lanka have joined hands with the clubs in India to form District 82 of Toastmasters International, comprising of around 140 clubs in total. District 82 will hold its first conference in Sri Lanka between 22nd and 24th May 2009 with the attendance of the incoming World President of Toastmasters International, Ms. Pat Johnson. She, together with an eminent faculty of Toastmasters from India and Sri Lanka will conduct the educational workshops for both Toastmasters and the general public. The inauguration of the 3 day event is scheduled to take place at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo on the 22nd May 2009, with the educational sessions to follow on the 23rd at Mount Lavinia Hotel in Mount Lavinia.

Sri Lanka Convention Bureau forms a part of the organizing committee as this is considered to be a nationally important event to Sri Lanka.
